Phil to Play in Abu Dhabi Championship By mustang6560 on 1/20/11
Golf is truly a global sport.
If you need any evidence, just take a look at the current world ranking. Six out of the top 10 golfers in the world are international players. And Phil Mickelson is the latest professional golfer to take advantage of golf's international influence as he heads to the Middle East. Phil Mickelson is going to open his season by playing in the Abu Dhabi Championship. "I am not exactly a global player like Gary Player or Ernie Els, not yet. But I'm trying to get there," Mickelson said. "But certainly, it is something that I would like to improve. I don't know if I'll ever get to that degree, but I'd like to play more internationally, and its really been great for us as a family to be able to experience so many different cultures and learn from them."I think it's great to see golfers expand their schedule to add new tournaments period. It's even cooler when it's to a different part of the world. But don't think the Abu Dhabi Championship is going to be a cake walk. The likes of Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell will be there just to name a few. Not only does golf benefit by having the best players jet set to different tournaments around the world, but the golfer benefits too. Phil Mickelson will surely pick up some new fans who are eager to see the leftie play. Good luck, Phil! Full Story photo source [ comments ] no comments posted yet. [ post comment ]
