On Wednesday, March 5, the PGA Tour announced that breakout French golf star Victor Dubuisson has accepted Special Temporary Membership for the remainder of the 2014 PGA Tour season. He is sure to try to take full advantage at this week's WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami.

The Frenchman was offered the exemption following his heroics at the WGC-Match Play at Dove Mountain. During this time, "VDU" can receive unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the 2014 PGA Tour season. That is a virtual certainty; any Tour event organizer who would not want Dubuisson in the field of any PGA Tour event probably is not smart enough to be running the event in the first place.

He can also continue to accumulate "Non-Member FedExCup Points." Of course, if Dubuisson can win a PGA Tour event before the FedExCup Playoffs begin, his Non-Member FedExCup Points can be counted on the FedExCup Points List, excepting the FedExCup Points he earned at WGC events before earning full PGA Tour membership.

The bottom line is that Victor Dubuisson will probably be welcomed with proverbial open arms on the PGA Tour. And in addition to the 78^th Masters Tournament at Augusta National next month, you should expect to see "VDU" at the Ryder Cup in Scotland in September.

Dubuisson now has the opportunity to do precisely what Jordan Spieth did last year — earning his PGA Tour card by literally playing his way onto the tour. It is feel-good stories like these that help make golf the ultimate meritocracy in sports.
