Streb's Long And Winding Road By Torleif Sorenson on 10/27/14
Robert Streb grew up in Oklahoma and polished his game at Oak Tree National. But the rest of his golf career has not progressed quite as he had planned. He wanted to go to college and play NCAA Division I golf at the University of Oklahoma, but the athletic department there had no scholarship to give. And Streb was sure he would be nothing more than a walk-on at Oklahoma State. Instead, he went to Kansas State University, where he practiced and played at a true "bucket list course," earned his undergraduate degree in marketing, and earned a wife named Maggie, who is expecting their first child in February. After having endured a similarly long road to the PGA Tour, Streb earned his tour card. And thanks to this clutch putt late Sunday afternoon... ...Robert Streb earned his first PGA Tour victory and also earned a trip to The Masters, just five months and change from now. But the shot of the week came courtesy of one of Streb's two eventual playoff opponents, Will MacKenzie (1:20 into the clip): Have you seen an interesting golf story? Tell us about it!
