The first 18 holes (the "front" and "back" nines) opened here in 1934; the "Lake" nine opened in 1985. This course features views of Lake Superior on 20 of the 27 holes and is actually located closer to the lake than is Enger Park GC, which is also owned and operated by the City of Duluth, located eight miles south of Lester Park. As of 2015, both courses will be managed by Billy Casper Golf.
