Conquistador Golf Club opened in 1963 with nine holes designed by Press Maxwell III, while Bill Stroud designed the second nine that debuted in 1980. Since the course is at 6,200 feet AMSL, temperatures are moderate during the summer, while the course itself has water on eight holes, while excellent views of the the La Plata Mountains, Ute Mountain, and Mesa Verde are in abundance.
