This course opened in March of 1996 as Dukes Dene and was designed by American architect Bradford Benz. Since the course was built on a chalk-base, it has excellent drainage; combined with USGA-spec greens, the course can accommodate year-round play, weather permitting.

Visitors may play any time on weekdays and after 9:30 a.m. on weekends and bank holidays. Societies are also welcome all week but should book in advance.

The course was in very good condition and is set up very well. The bunkers were found to have very compacted sand/stoney mix in them which made escape very difficult.

The greens are the slowest I've ever played on and very hard to get used to - not sure whether they were this way for a reason.

It's a well maintained course, the greens in particular were in good shape (we played on Dec 15th after some grim weather on previous days). We played on a Thursday so pace of play was good.

As per another review the fairways tend to be slopey side-to-side which makes for challenging shots above or below the feet.

I can only give three stars overall though because, well, it was just a little bit dull! Almost all the holes were either straight or with only very gentle dog-legs. The last par 3 was nice with a big drop from the tee and the 18th was probably the most interesting.

I'd play there again but I prefer the Surrey national (owned by the same group).

Woldingham is a friendly club. The course is interesting and in nice enough condition.
The real asset are the management and staff who go out of their way to make it a pleasant experience.

Woldingham (previously known as Dukes Dean) is part of the group I'm a member of and therefore have played it on several occasions.

This is an easier course. Fairly open on most holes and flat (with a few notable exceptions - like the 7th). It's situated in a valley and this means it's much harder when the wind blows.

Excellent clubhouse, a small driving range and good putting / sand practice areas.

Overall this is a good course to play when you are after value for money and a non-taxing round.
