While the club dates to 1891, the current course was first laid out in 1908 and underwent a partial redesign by the prolific architect James Braid during the 1920s. The narrow fairways are lined by heathers, gorse and Rowan trees, while the practice facilities include a full range, two putting greens, and a practice bunker.

Kilmacolm lies about 15 minutes from Glasgow International Airport, three miles from the River Clyde. Visitors are welcome; the summer rates are £35/round or £45/day on weekdays, while the weekend and bank holiday rates are £40/round or £50/day. Advance booking is highly recommended.
