This course opened in 1968 with nine holes; the second nine opened in 1972 with Gerry Pirkl and Donald Brauer getting design credit. The name "Dahlgreen" came from the owners of the farmland on which the course was built; they took the word "Dahlgren" (the name of the street and the township) and added the letter "e".

The standard walking rates are $36 on weekdays and on weekends and holidays after 10:00 a.m., then $39 on weekends and holidays before 10:00 a.m. (carts are $15/person).
