Got home from the Maple Run fiasco not very thrilled finishing a long awaited weekend. So I packed up my gear about 5:45 went up to Poolesville G.C. to work on some things. Nobody on the first tee so I decided hell with the range and tee it up. I know this course and these greens better than most. Pace of play was good enough that I did't jump around. Settled in and rolled along. Missed a few greens I should have hit but struck it well. But then again, I made a few unlikely pars and a bomb bird on 3. Three put on 17 due to hurrying. Dark on 18. What a difference in play.
Number 11 is a fun par 5 to play. I've carded everything between a three and a nine on this hole. Dogleg right. Heavy tree cover on right. Says 451. If you hit it straight out over the pond and on the fairway you still have over 250 to the hole. There is a gully 100 yards in front of green with bunkers on both sides. The shot is cut off the corner. You have to hit it pretty hard. Less than 200 in if you miss the trees.
