85* and humid. Brother Tim up from Texas. Course is very well manicured but soaked resulting in no roll and long second shots. Greens are heavily bunkered and nothing short of disaster if you go over. Wooded creek bottoms wind thru this place along several holes. Unplayable if land in the wrong spots. Played the gold tees and they were set further back than normal. Damn it was long. My game plan was to treat every par 4 over 400 yards as a par 5 and see what happens. Struck the ball well on the front but eventually wore down on the back. Hole 16 ate my lunch. This hole can be played several ways, all of which require a precise shot. Obviously I was not precise. When you stand on the tee, the first thought is go for it. I can't get there but I can get to the very small landing area to the short right. But it is tiny. Miss and in the creek that cuts thru and runs alongside the rest of the hole. I missed so after the re-tee I tried a lay up straight out that would give me about 140 to the pin. Put that one in too. Putts were around the hole but not good enough today.
Starter told us some kid came out and set the new course record of 61 last week. He should be on tour as tough as this place is.
