About 70* and overcast. Some drizzle. Decided to play gold tees today. They were set further back than the card reads. Played about 6200 yards. Good iron shots saved me. Not many out here and moved right along. Started on hole 8.
Fooled around all day with driver adjustments. Add loft, decrease loft, draw setting, neutral, tried them all. Pathetic. Best looking ball flight was set at +2* draw. Once struck, it looks like it is torched but when it hits the ground it is woefully short. Nothing over 215 yards today. Spin rates must be thru the roof. The distance is nowhere near where it was a year ago. I was fitted for this driver a year ago and I just killed the ball for several months. But something has changed. Swing feels good, contact sharp, flight good. But get NOTHING out of it. As bad as that is, my 5w only carries about 180 and the 3hi about 175. Both fade. 5i goes further than either with a draw. Don't know why I pull em out.
Hell, I fly my 7i 155 in the air. WTF.
DougEly says:A 38 and 39 last week equal 77. Now another 77. After a long layoff. Seems like you are taking no prisoners.
Your distance loss is likely, at least partially, due to colder temps. When it's 80* or more, with firmer conditions, you'll get better distance. And yes you can fly your 7 iron 155, almost as far as your hybrid, but don't get too upset about that. Callaway XRs are really jacked up (if that's what you are still playing). The 7 iron is 30*. My 6i is 30* and I hit it about 155 when I hit it well. My 7i is 34*. Mid season, no wind, pure sweetspot contact, maybe I hit it 145, at best.
Is Poolesville better or worse than Glade Valley? Either way, it's gotta smell better. LOL.
