We started on #7 - shotgun start.
85 degrees, sunny and maybe a 10 mph breeze as the day progressed.
Greens were a bit bumpy and moderately rolling. Very firm and only the best struck shot would hold. Fairways were firm and allowed good roll out. Rough was not too bad. Bunkers were marginal with poor raking.
I started off okay and then 3-putted #13 from about 15 feet. Then missed an 18 inch putt for par on #15. I was talking and did not make a serious effort to hole it - outwardly I laughed it off, inside I was really pissed at myself, which led to my 3-putt on #16. Re-booted, made a sand save on #17 and then hit the only bad drive of the day on #18 (fairway bunker).
After assessing my position, I decided to play a bit more aggressively, try to hit my drives harder and go for my approach shots. Worked out well and I played 1-6 at -1.
Ultimately, I hope I learned two lessons:
1. Hit every putt and shot like it means a lot, because it does
2. Even when things are going sideways, like it was from #11 to #18, if I keep plugging away, something good might happen. In this instance, by playing #1-#6 at -1, I managed to creep into a 3-way tie for 3rd (net) in the A Flight.
