Friggin cold, but wind was light, thankfully. Wasn't planning to play more than a few holes. Just wanted to get out there since I hadn't played all week. There were only a few others on the course. I went out about 2 pm and said to the guys in the pro shop I just wanted to play a few holes. Started on first with a birdie, putting my approach to 2 feet. On third, pitched out of the wetlands to 1 foot to save par. Decided to stop after 9th. But, then said, what the hell, I'll play one more hole. Made a 5 with a penalty on 10 so said, one more hole. Hit 50* approach to 2 feet and made a 2nd bird. Had to play another then. When I birdied the 14th with a 9i approach to 3 feet, I said, what the hell. Finished 18 in about 2:15. Home before dark.
Really struck the ball well in freezing cold conditions. Couldn't feel the ends of my fingers, but somehow, things worked. Putted well too. Driver had a nice draw all day. Only a couple not great drives, a snap hook on 7th and a push on the 10th which put me behind a small tree. Caught a branch of the tree with approach shot, barely, but redirected flight enough to send it towards water. It trickled in. Penalty drop, pitch and one putt to save bogey.
Happy with ballstriking, considering the forced layoff.
