We started on #10
Cloudy, cool, a bit of a breeze 5+ mph - maybe a club when right in our face. Rained off and on. Cart path only on a number of holes.
Course was soft but some holes allowed roll out. Greens were firm but allowed one to stop a well struck shot. Moderate pace, primarily because of the moisture.
I had just played the worst round of 2019 and probably for the 5 years preceding. Entered the day with extremely low expectations and my goal was to avoid complete embarrassment. One of my playing partners was the Wayne State University golf coach.
I hit two wayward drives that cost me (one on the edge of the tree line - punch out, the other rolled right behind a tree - just bad luck). Other than that, only a few shots were poor and my putting was very good from 5 feet in. Finished tied for 6th net and 5th gross in the B flight. I was greatly relieved I did not put up a 90+ score again.
