11 days into March, 9th round of the month, 45th of the new year. Good start.
Played the back nine first. Had it working today, right off the bat. Driver was strong again. Lovin' the new SM8 wedges after finally getting comfortable with their extreme checking ability. Got up and down a lot today, with a perfect 58* pitchip holeout for bird on 12th. Was one under through the first 7 holes, but of course bogeyed 17 and 18. 17 was playing 205 yards off the tee. Hit a 4 hybrid 206 yards, unfortunately, into the back part of the left bunker. Got it up on the green on 2nd shot, but 2-putted for my first bogey. On 18th, hit a decent drive, good 3W, and thought I had plenty of club for my approach but came up a tad short of green. Debated putting the 2 yards through the rough onto the green, but there was a bunch of bumpy spots just before the green, so chipped it with 58 instead. Checked up 6 feet short and missed the par saving put for another bogey.
Did not score nearly as well on the 2nd (front) nine, but still played well overall and made some nice shots and got up and down for par on both 6 and 7. I was 6-for-8 on up and downs from inside 20 yards today!
Driver distance continues to be more than respectable, even though it was quite cold today. Iron ballstriking was fairly sharp. Putted well. Greens were rolled and cut yesterday and have been a pleasure to putt on the last couple days.
Gonna push my body and get out there again tomorrow.
