65 degrees at the start and approaching 75 at the end. Little wind. Sunny.
Course was firm. Rough was healthy and one got fairly thick lies. Greens very quick and I just could not get used to the speed. Unusually quick for this course.
My driving was an issue. 4 fairways is really poor when I average 65% fairways. My putting also really held me back. All my one putts were essentially tap ins from good chipping. A lot of my two putts were making 4-5 foot comebackers.
Now, the story. I signed up as a single for the second tee time in the morning. I noted another person had signed on for my time slot later in the week so I was going to have company. I arrived early and was putting on the practice green. To Asian old men arrived. I assumed they were part of the threesome ahead of me. I was disappointed to see that one was walking/pulling as three carts could be fairly fast.
The two guys decided to go to the tee and the starter came out. Turns out they had signed up for my slot and the first group was a no show. So I went to the tee and told them they were with me. Neither old guy spoke English really well but we could communicate. Off we went. After three holes one of them smiled at me and suggested that maybe I might want to go ahead while they waited. Deal! I put my tee shot on to the par 3 4th hole, jogged to the green, putted out and that was the last I saw of them.
