With Bernie and Mark. 85 and sunny. WM doing aeration, so was a good excuse to get away.
Didn't bother keeping GIRs and Fairways, but it was about typical. 9 or 10 fairways. Greens were probably only 6 or 7, though, of which 5 were on the back.
Greens had me baffled for over half the round. Very fast, yet looked slow. Played too much break the whole front nine until I finally believed what I wasn't seeing!
Penalties on 3 and 16. On dogleg right 3rd, hit what I thought would be a great 3W off the tee, but it continued on through the fairway, past the bunker, behind a tree, about 235 yards from where I hit it. Had no swing from that position. Unlucky. Had to take a drop. On 16, I just plain lost it right into hazard. Another penalty and only terrible drive of the day.
Had about a B- game today, until the final hole when I hit my best drive of the day and the only one that felt like myself the whole round. It landed 40 yards ahead of my two play mates on the left side of the fairway, leaving me 70 yards to pin, quite uphill, playing closer to 80y. 58* lob wedge to 5 feet past and made the birdie putt. Drive was about 265y. So yes, my best of the day.
It was good to get away. Slightly disappointed in the way I played the front nine, but overall a nice time.
