Hot and breezy today.
Same old, same old. At least it wasn't another damn 81.
Swung it fairly well. No up and downs from bunkers today, but was in three or four and every out gave me a reasonable shot at a save. Furthest away from hole was about 10 feet on all bunker shots. Unfortunately didn't make any par saving putts. Still very happy with bunker play.
Gotta get my GIRs back up to 50% or higher. Hurting my game more than anything else since my return last month. Just missing slightly left, slightly right and long. Thankfully my short game has been solid. It seems, I play for a draw, it goes straight. Play straight at target, pull it left. When in between clubs, I seem to always pick the wrong one. Today on 10th had 150 in. Typical 7 iron, but the wind told me I needed a 6 iron. So I hit 6 iron and flew the green, right over the pin. Hit it flush and that damn AVX cut right through the wind. Should have known it would.
On 1st, (my 17th for the day, started on 3rd) I was down below the left fairway bunker off the tee. Had 140 to the pin, quite a bit uphill. Probably with slope, a 150 yd shot. Again, thought 6 iron would be safer to clear the bunker lip. It was. Cleared it by a couple yards. Looked great from my vantage point, right on the pin. When I drove up the hill onto the fairway, expected to be close. No ball in sight on green. I know it made the green. I arrived to find it all the way over the green. In this case, had I hit 7, I would not have cleared the bunker, so 6 iron was the right club. However, coming out of the rough, it had no stopping power when it reached the green. Another missed green with a great shot. Frustrating.
