Nicest day of the week. Only in the 80s for the first time in awhile. Some breeze.
Hit the ball quite well for the most part. Had a great start through 7, but then bogeyed 8th after drive came up short of green, the chip came up real short of pin.
Then on 9th, after a really good drive, hooked my 4 iron 2nd shot, leaving me in rough with a downhill lie. Still had 8 iron. Opened the face a little to lessen the affect of the rough, but it did not get over the hazard due to the difficult lie. Penalty. Drop, 58* to 10 feet. Two putt double. Worst hole of the day, even with one of my best drives.
Putted pretty well, despite the aeration. Aeration seems to be healing nicely. Greens gaining speed every day.
Only hit a few less than average shots today and each one of them cost me. The 4 iron on 9th resulted in a difficult lie, which turned into a penalty. On 12th, over cooked Driver off tee, way left, leaving me 235 to pin. Then hooked 3W over the shit, but into unplayable position. Penalty. From there (65 yards away) hit a blind wedge to a few feet and saved a bogey. Would have been a nice par had there been no penalty. On 13th, hit my second shot with 3W and came out of it. Cut hard right, hit cartpath and bounced into high native grass right of path, 85 yards out. Another penalty. And another bogey. Three penalty strokes total. Each one as a result of a less than good swing. Probably only made one other poor swing all round. It was my second shot on 18 and the swing wasn't bad, but the lie was terrible. Sitting basically all the way down on the dirt in 4 inch thick rough. Couldn't get a 3W on it, but got greedy and tried a hybrid. Knew I had to hit down on it, but did not get a clean strike. Only moved it forward about 100 yards. Ended up taking me four strokes to reach the green, as I miscalculated the wind on my approach and came up short. Another bogey. No penalty, though that lie was quite penal.
Overall, happy with my play again today. Drive good, irons mostly good, too. Was in no greenside bunkers to keep up my wonderful sand play streak. I'm sure I'll find myself in some tomorrow. I did make par today from two fairway bunkers though. On the 10th and 14th.
Playing tomorrow, and then a day off to rest my left shoulder. However, it didn't hurt too badly today, but tomorrow will be 5 days in a row. Need to be careful.
