70's, partly sunny, breeze of about 10+ mph, at least a club.
Course was soggy from heavy evening rains. Greens a bit slower than recent times but smooth. Rough dense, long and wet.
A bit of luck helped me on the front with a chip in for birdie and a 30 yard bunker shot on #9 to tap in range. Then the luck turned and I came back to Earth on the back.
I knew I needed to make a couple pars coming down the stretch of 15-18 but with the wet conditions the closing holes are just too long. Good tees shots on all four closing holes got me a single GIR. My approach on #15 was a fairway wood. I hit driver on the par 3 #16 and was headed for the center of the green but the soggy swale in front stopped me dead. A 5-iron got my only GIR on #17. I killed a 3-wood on #18 to only be 20 yards short. Sigh. No score in the 70's for me. :(
