Played with Bernie for my free B'day round. Hooked up with a guy, Jeff. We played whites today. It was fine. Took awhile to figure out the greens on the front, but found my game on the back.
Ruined the 9th. Crap drive, left. Had a downhill lie in rough and tried to hit 3W from it. Caught top of a mogul on the way out and knocked it down. Then the third went way left down an embankment. Then punched a 5i from that ridiculously steep lie for my 4th shot. That left me 60 yards out. However, I proceeded to pull my LW left of green for my 5th shot, and still not on. Finally hit one decent little pitchip to 2 feet for a 1-putt 7, double. That was the only bad hole of the day. And, it was bad!
Should have been two strokes lower on the back. On 14th, approach was just off green, pin high on right. I said to Bernie, "I can chip this in." I then proceeded to chip it right to the hole. It stopped overhanging the hole. We waited for it to fall. And waited. But it never did. I don't know how it stayed there.
On the 18th, hit a great drive dead center. 70 yards left to very front pin. Took a little too much off a LW but still had lots of spin. It landed on edge, but backed up and off the green, down the slope about 10 feet. Chip up went 5 feet past. Then putted the downhiller a touch too easy, leaving in right in the throat, short by a couple inches. Could have been a great back nine. Enjoyed the round, just the same.
Shoulder held up today....surprisingly.
Score edited. Did not have a double on 8th. Had a bogey. Better score than I thought. Landed just short off tee, chip and two-putt.
