Bernie & Mark. Overcast and damp, but no rain. Brightened a couple times during the round, but sun never broke through. Temps in the 50s to start. Ended in the low 60s. First time playing Penn National. Course was in excellent shape. Absolutely loved the greens. They rolled so true. Fairways and tee boxes were as good as I have seen anywhere. Rough was lush, but cut to a comfortable height. I was extremely impressed with the course. We had no one in front of us and no one behind us and paid a special after 1PM rate of only $29!
Played quite well, though had a few miscues, a 3-putt and a penalty. Could have easily shot 75 without the mistakes. Had only two really bad shots. Driver was good on all but one or two holes. On 15th tee, I shot the back edge of a fairway bunker with my Bushnell, measuring it at 225. I said out loud to Mark and Bernie, "Gonna have to carry 230 to clear it." Then I did just that, flying it 235, ending up with a 270-yard drive. My drive of the day.
Hit lots of greens. Whole game felt quite good.
CeeBee says:Nice round. Iron Forge is my favorite of the two there.
