41-44* with sun, most of round. Got more overcast and coldest towards end. Entering first score/stats of 2021 because I played only one ball and kept score this round. Actually 5th round of 2021.
Played some decent golf in damp conditions. Blue tees were mostly at the front of the blue teeing areas, but on those where they were back, I played from the center of the blue teeing area. So, distance was probably still close to that listed on card. Either way, with the multiple layers of clothes, cold temps and soft conditions, it was plenty long.
Drove the ball well. Lots of pop off the face, mostly straight or slight draws. On front nine, I felt like I couldn't miss. Hit first 5 greens with approach shots (laid up purposely on 3 though), then on 6th with a back pin at 172, hit a perfect draw dead on pin, landing 2 feet past and bounced a foot off the back of the green. Easy up and down from about 8 feet away. Only bad shot on front was my second on the ninth from the side of a mogul with the ball well below my feet in the rough. Didn't get enough of it and consequently had to lay up with the next one. A good approach from there, but 2-putt left me with bogey.
The back started out well. Birdie on 14th from behind the tree on the left. Punched a 7 iron under branches to 8'. On 15, the tees were way back. Playing 180 yanked it a touch missing green left. Flop up and two putt bogey. Then lost a bit of focus after a disturbing phone call came in (of which I had to take) while on the 16th, and never felt good after that. That resulted in 3 more closing bogeys and no greens hit.
Left shoulder continues to be quite irritated and painful. Iced heavily after round. Concern growing.
