Played with Bernie & Mark. Low 50s and sunny. Wind not too terrible.
Realized I forgot my phone on the first tee and had some trouble concentrating, not sure whether I left it home, in my car or in my locker at the club. I had Bernie text Mare to check, but she never replied back. I played a bit shaky as a result to start, but finally started focusing on about the 6th hole. Prior to that I played like an 18 handicapper.
Salvaged a decent front nine considering my poor play to start, but really turned it on out back. Played some very solid golf for the first time in months. Felt like my game was back.
My birdie on the tough 12th hole came after I put my beautiful hybrid approach only 3 feet from the pin.
Biggest disappointment was on the 18th, after reaching the green in regulation with an 8i from the lower fairway to about 10 feet from the pin. I then rolled what looked like a perfect birdie putt, headed right at the hole with perfect pace. The bumpy green did me in about a foot from the hole when the ball hit a clump of Poa annua, knocking it about a 1/2 inch off line and slowing it just a touch. The ball ended up reaching the left side of the hole, with 1/3 of the ball literally overhanging the hole. We all waited for it to drop, but it never did. Would have been an under par back nine. Settled for even on the back.
First winter round in awhile worth tracking. Just wish my phone was in my pocket to start. Maybe I would have played a better front nine.
