72* and sun. Played with Bernie. We played the tips. (It was barely 6000 yards, but target golf with a lot of quirky holes and side slopes.)
I cannot remember the last time I have hit the ball this well, this consistently. I'm 30-40 yards ahead of Bernie on every driver tee shot. Straight, or slight baby draw. Probably averaged close to 250yards for the day. Hitting my irons crisp and long, no pulls, no pushes. Got in trouble on one blind hole off the tee. Didn't realize how much the fairway turned to the right over the ridge on 7th. Hit over the ridge and saw it bounce left and down a steep bank. Never expected to reach that far, but my driver had more mustard on it today than I've been used to. The 70+ degree weather made a huge difference. But, I am still 10-15 yards longer than I was last summer, I think.
2nd hole, par 3 playing 220 from the tips over water nearly to front of green. Bernie played a driver and hit a terrible shot that went way right, but landed on a steep side slope and it rolled down a 50 foot hill onto the green, and he was able to make par. I hit 3W, pin high, just left of the green. Decent chip, but missed my putt. Bogey, though I still felt a lot better about that bogey than he did his ugly par.
I don't think I hit one poor shot today. But, tomorrow's another day, so we'll see how that goes.
