Played with Mark and Bernie. They wanted to play Silver tees. As in the fall, again, it seemed a little short, but I played them just the same. With the exception a a few holes where I hit less than satisfactory drives, I was usually 20-30 yards out in front. On a few holes I was 60-80 yards ahead of both of them. I should have played the golds. It was however, easy to hit greens from this distance. The greens were fast, but aerated and bumpy at the same time. Struggled with distance on many first putts.
Had a couple bad holes on front. Caught a branch leaning out over the fairway with my second shot on the par 5 third, leaving me dead behind another tree. Tried to punch a 4 iron under the lowest branches, but sure enough, hit solid tree and it ricocheted backwards. Finally reached the green with my 5th and 2-putted for double. Then after a good par on the next hole, proceeded to hit a 54* wedge off the par 3 5th, over the green, off the cart path and into the woods behind. It was playing only about 100 yards, downhill and I ended up with freakin' double. Geeez.
Irons were not quite as sharp as they have been lately. I'm blaming it on the extremely firm conditions. Felt like I was hitting off hard-pan all day.
Weather was gorgeous, 75* and sunny, paid only 39 bucks and pace of play was fine. Good day.
