Impromptu 9. Was gonna keep playing, but back was all jammed up. Went and hung out in pro shop instead. Just noticed the yardage and slope rating is wrong for PBD on SG360. Played the Green tees which are actually 6315 yards (3288 front nine) on the card with a 134 slope.
Started off with an excellent drive on first, leaving me 100 yards in. GW to about 15 feet. Hadn't tested greens before round so first putt was a guess. Still, put it to a few inches and walked away with par.
8i on 2 to 147 yard pin. 2 putt par.
Still trying to figure out best play on 3rd off the tee. Tried 3W today. Hit it well, but caught the center tree a bit. Landed in rough to left of tree. From there, not much option to move it safely around the corner. Hit 8 iron, over creek to edge of 2nd fairway. Then slightly yanked a hybrid left of green and was not able to get up and down despite a perfectly executed mini flop to 6 feet. Bogey.
Another shot at birdie on 4th after approah stopped 15 ft behind pin. Up and down par on 5. Dr/3W GIR par on the long 6th(plays 440, w/ uphill approach). Rarely do I hit that green in regulation. Spun a gap wedge into green on 7th. Hit 3 feet from pin and spun back hard, about 15 feet, ending up a foot off the front of the green. Looked cool but hurt my chance at birdie.
8 was pin was at 198, playing about 215 up the hill. Hit 3w onto the green...then it rolled off the right side. Left me with a very awkward chip due to the undulation between my ball and the pin. Bogey.
9 drive was in the fairway, but left side leaving me 160 out. Hit it left purposely to alleviate some of the more extreme downhill, ball-below-the-feet lie potential. It still was a little downhill. Hit it well. Better than expected, actually. Went off the back of the green. Got up and down for par.
Driver worked for the most part. Added some weight to the front edge and think it helped. Iron swing was good throughout the nine. Putting was okay, but I'll need a lot more time on these greens to learn their nuances to a point at which I become comfortable with them. WMs are much faster, but I am confident on those. Here, not so much....yet.
