Rained all night and most of the day. Course saturated. Cart path only. Debated playting up a set of tees due to the softness of the turf, but decided to take on the challenging conditions. The extra distance did not seem to make much difference. My game was mostly solid, despite the three day layoff.
Worked with my Tour Tempo app and was able to make some great drives. Surprised myself by the distance, even with the soft conditions. Only had two less than good shots today, both with 3W from the fairway. The wetness affected me psychologically and my swings were not free on those two. Both resulted in somewhat disatifying results and both probably cost me an extra stroke for bogey. One on the par 5 5th and the other the par 5 13th.
Birdied 11 with a sand wedge to 3 feet on approach after a massive drive considering there was not roll out. On 12 hit another massive drive leaving me 7 iron in. Hit it right on line, ending up about 10 feet past the pin. Made a great birdie attempt, which lipped out. Still satisfying considering it was the 12th hole.
Hit PW from left fairway bunker on 14 to about 10 feet. Landed closer, but spun back. Barely missed that birdie putt.
Hit hybrid off the tee on the par 3 17th, playing 207 yards. Just a little too much draw and it landed pin high in the far back section of the bunker leaving me a difficult, short-sided shot. Got it out, but not quite far enough. It settled into the rough. Chipped it close to save bogey.
Another realistic chance at bird on 18th after a great drive, great second shot and gap wedge to 10 feet. Missed it, but ended with a decent par.
Taking into account the conditions of the day, I was quite pleased with my play. Driver was strong. Fairway misses were minor.
