Played with Bernie and Mark. Got comped due to reciprosity with PBDye. Brought B & M along for 29 bucks apiece. They wanted to play silver tees and with my knee in the questionable condition it is presently in, I went along with them.
Was slightly left all day with my driver, trying to over compensate for the knee limitations. Still hit the ball well and in most cases was 30-80 yards past those guys. We didn't play for money today, so I got no shit from them about my distance advantage from the silvers.
Considering the state of my knee, I did okay. Only a couple errant shots from rough and two penalties off the tee on 4 and 10 hurt me. On 4th, I just hit the ball too far, reaching a hazard area I could not reach from the proper tees. On the par 5 10th, I just plain put a terrible swing on the drive sending it cutting right. A surprise to all of us, as I haven't sliced a drive in ages. It hit cart path and bounced into the lateral hazard area. Almost saved the par even so, after a great 3W 2nd shot and a SW to 8 feet. Hit the par saving putt right on line, but it came up a couple revolutions short. Ouch. Greens were a bit slow for my taste, but putted the lines well, otherwise.
Overall, a fairly easy course, but from the silver tees, I should be able to get close to par with a working right knee and a little luck. Decent day though when I thought I would not have a prayer of playing golf today, two nights ago, my knee was in such throbbing pain. Ice and Advil. A golf-saving combination worked wonders. Back at the combo now, as I write this.
